Kiwisaver
KiwiSaver is a superannuation scheme for New Zealanders. If you are like many New Zealanders who have signed on for KiwiSaver, you may not even be aware of what provider you are with or what scheme you are signed up to.
There are currently 32 KiwiSaver scheme providers and a number of these have different styles of investment funds available.
If you are not signed up to KiwiSaver, there is a $1000 kick-start three months after joining from the Government and if you are aged 18 and over you are eligible for a member tax credit of $521.43 per annum. If you are making KiwiSaver contributions from your pay, your employer must also make compulsory contributions of 2% of your pay (subject to conditions).
If you are a first home buyer you may be able to access some of your KiwiSaver savings for a deposit on your first home.
There are many benefits to starting your long term savings as soon as possible, so don’t delay!
